What each accreditation covers, and how to verify it

C-TEC systems, in certified hands

Certified engineers, manufacturer parts and the servicing regime BS 5839-1 asks for.

  1. Certified engineers

C-TEC certified for installation and service across the panel and device range.

  2. Repairs, not workarounds

Correct parts and configuration, so a fault is closed out rather than silenced.

  3. Serviced to BS 5839-1

Six-monthly servicing with a certificate and written report after every visit.

  4. Free takeover audit

If a C-TEC system was installed by someone else, moving it to us costs nothing to assess.

Why use a C-TEC certified installer?

A team that works with C-TEC panels day to day configures, services and repairs them more reliably than a general contractor meeting the range for the first time. Flame Shield London is C-TEC certified, BAFE registered and an approved Fike and C-TEC installer, and our technicians are fully qualified and BAFE certified. New system, inherited system or a fault on the panel, you are dealing with people who know the kit.

Direct answer: Flame Shield London is C-TEC certified. We install, commission, service and repair C-TEC fire alarm systems to BS 5839-1, and we can take over a C-TEC system another company installed, with a free audit first.

What we do with C-TEC systems

  • Installation and commissioning of new C-TEC systems, conventional or addressable, to the right BS 5839-1 category.
  • Servicing and maintenance, six-monthly, with a certificate after every visit.
  • Takeover of C-TEC systems installed by others, with a free audit first.
  • Fault-finding and repair, from panel and battery faults to device and wiring problems.

C-TEC panel showing a fault?

If your C-TEC panel is showing a fault, call 020 3393 1661 during opening hours and tell us what it is displaying. Some faults, such as a battery warning, can be narrowed down over the phone. Where a visit is needed we will put it right and certificate the system. We do not advertise 24/7 callout; our phone is answered during opening hours.

A C-TEC system, serviced by people who know it

Both jobs get called the same thing on the invoice. This is what actually differs.

  1. Access Certified engineers with the correct parts and configuration C-TEC certified Guesswork on configuration and generic replacement parts
  2. Diagnosis The fault traced and closed out, then verified Closed out Faults silenced at the panel and left in place
  3. Servicing Six-monthly service to BS 5839-1, with certificate and written report Every visit A visit with nothing to show for it afterwards
  4. Switching Free takeover audit and no gap in your cover Free audit Locked to the original installer

C-TEC fire alarm service: your questions answered

Are you certified for C-TEC fire alarm systems?

Yes. Flame Shield London is C-TEC certified, BAFE registered and an approved Fike and C-TEC installer. We install, commission, service and maintain C-TEC fire alarm systems, and our technicians are fully qualified and BAFE certified.

Can you take over a C-TEC system installed by someone else?

Yes. You are not tied to whoever installed your C-TEC panel. We take over C-TEC systems from other providers and the initial takeover audit is free. We inspect the system, report on its condition and compliance, and put it onto a maintenance schedule.

My C-TEC panel has a fault. What should I do?

Call us on 020 3393 1661 (Mon to Fri 9am to 7pm, Sat 10am to 3pm) and describe what the panel is showing. Some C-TEC faults, such as a battery warning, can be narrowed down over the phone. Where a visit is needed we will diagnose and repair the fault and certificate the system afterwards.

Do you service both conventional and addressable C-TEC systems?

Yes. We service and maintain both conventional and addressable C-TEC systems to BS 5839-1, with a certificate issued after every service visit.
